The sovereign AI crisis

Generative AI created an invisible cross-border data transfer loophole.

Your company spent years getting GDPR right. Then an engineering team pointed the product at a US-hosted LLM API. Every customer prompt carrying an employee name, an account number or a diagnosis now crosses a border in real time, and nobody can say afterwards which data center answered it.

European regulators have already shown how they treat unlawful transfers. None of the largest fines below involved a breach. They were about where data went.

Cryptographic proof vs. vendor promises

Vendor promise
“Customer data is processed in our European regions where available.”
  • · Which region answered request 7f3a91? Unknown.
  • · Which policy was in force that day? Unknown.
  • · Where did failover go during the outage? Unknown.

Regulators don't accept vendor promises. They accept proof.

When a supervisory authority asks where a specific inference ran, most API proxies can only point to a configuration page. YTT Secunet signs every receipt with Ed25519, chains it into SHA-256 Merkle trees with published roots, and records the facility and certificate thumbprint of the endpoint that answered.

Drop-in integration

One base URL. Two headers. Done.

Keep your SDK, your models and your agent code. Change where the request goes, declare the policy, and read the receipt from the response headers.

  • OpenAI and Anthropic compatible

Chat, embeddings, tool calls and streaming pass through unchanged.

  • Policy per request or per tenant

Headers override tenant defaults only where your policy allows it.

  • Receipts in the header

X-YTT-Proof-Signature on every response, streaming included.

Six capabilities, one sovereign control plane.

Jurisdictions

One endpoint. Six legal regimes.

Each tenant inherits the rules of its jurisdiction: allowed regions, PII handling, failover targets and receipt retention.

Frequently asked questions

How does YTT Secunet reduce US CLOUD Act exposure?

The CLOUD Act lets US authorities compel a provider under US jurisdiction to produce data in its possession, custody or control, wherever it is stored. YTT Secunet narrows what exists to be compelled: prompts and completions stream in memory and are never written to disk, receipts hold hashes rather than content, signing keys can be customer-held in an HSM, and policies can restrict routing to EU-parented endpoints. Sovereign Dedicated runs inside your own VPC with an in-country control plane. YTT SECUNET PRIVATE LIMITED is an Indian company, and we still design for minimal data rather than claiming immunity from any government's access laws.

Which models and sovereign providers are supported?

Any OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic-compatible API: Azure OpenAI in EU, UK, Swiss and UAE regions, Amazon Bedrock regional endpoints including the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, Google Vertex AI regional endpoints, Mistral AI, Scaleway, OVHcloud, STACKIT, Swisscom, and self-hosted vLLM or Ollama clusters. The Sovereign AI Index lists every endpoint we certify.

How much latency does routing add?

Under 8 ms at p99 for policy evaluation, PII handling and receipt minting, measured on YTT Secunet production traffic. For EU users this is usually a net saving: a Frankfurt request that would have crossed to US East pays roughly 80 to 100 ms of round-trip network time before the model even starts.

How do the Merkle proofs work during a DPA audit?

Each response carries an Ed25519-signed receipt naming the policy version, provider region, facility and upstream TLS certificate thumbprint. Receipts are hashed into an hourly SHA-256 Merkle tree whose root is published. Your DPO exports the receipts for the period in question, and the authority runs the open-source ytt-verify tool to check signatures and inclusion proofs without trusting YTT Secunet.

Can YTT Secunet run entirely inside our private VPC?

Yes. Sovereign Dedicated deploys the gateway, policy engine and notary into your Kubernetes cluster or on-prem hardware, with an in-country control plane, customer-held signing keys and an air-gapped option with offline licensing.

What happens if a regional endpoint goes down?

Failover stays inside the jurisdiction the policy allows: Frankfurt fails over to Amsterdam or Paris, never to Virginia. If no in-jurisdiction capacity is healthy, the gateway fails closed with a 503 and a signed denial receipt rather than silently sending the prompt abroad.
